My First Time Playing Short Deck Poker! (ACTION!)

Short deck rule differences:
-2’s through 5’s are removed from the deck.
-Flush beats a full house, since they are tougher to make.
-A wheel is A6789
-Everyone ante’s , plus a blind on the button

In some variations, trips beats a straight. We played with a straight still beating trips here. According to Jason, if you play the reverse it can kill a lot of the action… for example you always have to be worried about someone having a set when you have a straight draw, and could be drawing dead already.

This game is ACTION. My first time ever playing Short Deck NL Texas Holdem, and we have all the hole cards! The game took place at the Peppermill in Reno, NV during Run It Up Reno. Jason Somerville, who has a bunch more experience playing this poker game than I do, joins me to help break down the action, give some tips and tricks, and count how much we both won or lost.

  2. Great Video but LOL def did not fold that hand… never folding there and for that price… pretty sure I had the 78s but nice video! very cool review

  3. I hate short deck. It's fucking stupid and it won't last. The only ones it is popular with are the pros. Sorry bro but this is the one and only video I won't see of your vlog.

  4. This is by far the best format of a vlog… it is so much better to see the actual action, and player mannerisms. It adds more depth into the hands rather than just saying the BB called.

  5. at 11:50 when andrew has the qj on t96 doesn't he have 6 outs vs both your 78s? If you actually run the math (27 cards left in the deck 1 – ((21/27)*(20/26)) = 40% hes calling 190 to win 645 so this is a slam dunk call not borderline at all

  6. Not a fan of Somerville, he comes across as a cheesy salesman always interrupting the flow of natural conversation. One of the reasons I like your videos is your authentic and Somerville is trying to change that. Stay 100 Neeme!

  7. Fantastic stuff Jason and Andrew. Love to see more of this stuff on ur channel. Actually watching u play is great the analysis was bang on

  8. Andrew on the 77j board aren't you suppose to raise on the flop ? There are no turn card you really would favor right ?
